Over the last week in July and first week of August, NFTE and the Center for Entrepreneurship teamed up to host the two-week NFTE BizAcademies. Throughout the two weeks, 24 students from the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester spent their time using the Center for Entrepreneurship and the computer labs in Sawyer, as they learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship and got a taste of NFTE’s newly launched Lunchtime Speaker Series!
During the first Friday of camp, the students traveled to New York City for the camp’s annual wholesale trip:
Upon returning, the students hit the street for their selling event where they set up shop and sold products to the public right in downtown Boston! The week was capped off at the Fidelity building for their finals ceremony.
A special thanks to the 124 volunteers from Santander Bank, who helped make this camp a reality!
Here’s what Jennifer Green, Manager of Programs for NFTE New England had to say about the BizAcademies:
We can’t thank Suffolk University’s Center for Entrepreneurship enough for hosting NFTE’s young entrepreneurship students this summer during our two-week BizAcademy, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester, made possible with the support of the Citi Foundation. The use of their state-of-the-art entrepreneurship space right in the heart of Boston, paired with the generosity of their staff, created the perfect environment for our students to experience our entrepreneurial programs at their finest.
